The original Hitchin' Post
Motel and Coffee Shop was established in 1948. In 1970, the Childress Family purchased the Motel and Coffee shop
with grand plans to grow the Hitchin' Post into what it is today. Mr. James D. Childress earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree as an Agronomist. Having a science degree in agriculture is what led him, his wife Georgia, and their three boys Brent, Bruce, and Bradley, to Las Vegas, NV, for work. They eventually purchased the Hitchin' Post Motel and Coffee shop and transformed it into the World Famous RV Park that it is today. They were pouring their hearts into the updating of the park's grounds. They built everything surrounding the original Motel and Coffee Shop themselves. The original 1948 Motel is still standing in all its retro glory, and the Childress's have only done renovations inside to modernize it. The iconic "Hitchin' Post Vacancy or No Vacancy" sign is still up and running, guiding all weary travelers in for a safe and cozy night's rest.
